We must shake leaders from partisan stupor
How do we the people get this Congress to do the country's business? Instead of passing bills that would help the economy and the general welfare, this Congress has spent a lot of time on partisan bickering and taking care of special interests, including their own.
These are some of the vital programs they should be working on: passing a national infrastructure bill; improving our educational system, especially K-12; and raising wages for the middle class so that it can buy the goods and services produced by the corporations so that it could keep up with the steady rise in commodity prices.
Congress should also strive to improve our military and strengthen our defenses against ISIS. These and other programs would give our economy a boost and improve the general welfare.
Instead, Congress chooses partisanship and inaction. This damages the country they took an oath to protect and defend. Would a national write-in campaign by millions of people from every region of the country demanding that Congress do the country's business make a difference?
