Don’t let your tax dollars go to waste
If your like the way our federal government spends your tax dollars, you are going to love what Georgetown County Council may have planned for the Willbrook Boulevard and Wildcat Way intersection. Two recent articles outlines Georgetown County Council's apparent plans for a $500,000-plus roundabout at Willbrook Boulevard and Wildcat Way.
While objective, the two articles did not mention that the roundabout will be used only about 2 hours a day and only 9 months of the year.
Georgetown County has another roundabout on Wachesaw Road. The South Carolina Department of Transportation March 2014 report says: The Wachesaw Road roundabout cost more than $500,000 and offers less than one-fifth of the annual benefit compared to the average roundabout within South Carolina. Also, the report indicates that none of the 11 existing roundabouts in South Carolina are at the entrance or exit of a school.
Wonder how many pot holes in Georgetown County could be repaired with $500,000?
To ensure your tax dollars are being spent wisely, kindly call your Georgetown County Council representative for District 1, John Thomas at (843) 237-3718, or District 6 Rep. Steve Goggans, (843) 545-3058, to voice your concerns and options. Both are key individuals because the proposed roundabout is on a boundary line between District 1 and District 6.
