Bailey wrong about Bikefest and veterans
Regarding columnist Issac Bailey's Feb. 19 article on getting our veterans to help out with the upcoming Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest, he writes: "Warm greetings and shared stories about their time as wild youth who once did silly things too some of which landed them in big trouble, some of which went unpunished."
Never miss a local story.
Sorry, but shootings, destroying others property, littering and stealing are not silly discretions of one’s youth. Bailey's viewpoint, and others who think like him, are exactly why those attending Bikefest act the way they do. Maybe a better idea than putting our veterans in harm’s way would be to get the NAACP to do the things Bailey suggests.
After all, they are the ones who fought to keep Bikefest. Maybe the Rev. Jesse Jackson could come and bring his Rainbow Coalition to help with security.
