Asking vets to help
with Bikefest a bad idea
Never miss a local story.
In response to Issac Bailey’s column concerning veterans lending a hand to help with Bikefest, FYI, the veterans that “faced down Hitler” etc., were generally armed as well or better than the adversaries. I hope that you don’t think that none of the Bikefest participants have any weapons on them this year. My going down there to interrupt their party to shake their hands and welcome them isn’t going to happen. That would compare to you going to a KKK rally to hand out NAACP flyers (comparison only, I do not support these organization’s actions).
Bikefest “ isn’t planned” and has no sponsors/organizers? How about Atlantic Beach and the Bikefest website/ Facebook page? Why is Bikefest always “unplanned” on Memorial Day weekend?
The fact that a Memorial Day celebration can’t be held on Memorial Day weekend speaks volumes as to where I stand with Myrtle Beach leaders as a vet. I will not be attending any of the “events galore.” Unlike Bikefest participants, I have learned over the years to not go where I am unwanted.
