The Myrtle Beach City Council takes money away from tourism marketing and comes up with a $1.6 million expense to combat Memorial Day weekend, tells businesses they must become vigilantes and clear their store fronts themselves of drunk teenagers who are loitering, and then they all stand up and applaud themselves.
This is not leadership, it is comedy relief. John Rhodes, Tom Leath and every member of city council needs to stand up and resign. This issue is way over their heads and they are incapable of addressing the Memorial Day weekend war zone like a professional governmental organization.
They have seen this coming for 10 years and they still can't defend the community. Not once have I heard the phrase “crowd control K-9.”
Tom Leath thinks this will make Myrtle Beach look like 1960s Mississippi. Well Tom, during Memorial Day weekend what do you think Myrtle Beach looks like now? This $1.6 million plan of approach is completely defensive and re-active. Let's get others in office who know how to lead, protect and be pro-active.
