Letter | Put blame for deaths where it belongs, on Hamas

During all the discussions and reporting on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, no one has mentioned exactly what it is: genocide by the Hamas terrorists of the Gazan people. The cowards who hide behind the innocents to facilitate the delivery of rockets and mortars into the State of Israel qualifies as genocide, when they can predict the outcome of their attacks.

Although it’s terrible about the loss of life in Gaza, one must focus on the cause of it and not the result. Everyone realizes that the loss of life can stop immediately, when Hamas stops their attacks on Israel. So put the blame where it belongs … on Hamas.

It’s sad and convoluted to hear reports that Israel should stop defending itself (which it would do by not responding to attacks or destroying the tunnels that deliver mayhem and destruction) and portrays them as the aggressors.

Our president doesn’t defend Israel enough and most leaders on the left don’t defend Israel enough. They should be more like Prime Minister Harper of Canada who stated that Israel is justified in its actions and Canada would do the same if attacked. He continued that “we hold the terrorist organization Hamas responsible … they have initiated and continue to seek the destruction of the State of Israel” (quoted in The Sun News on Aug. 3). We need strong leaders like that today in the United States.
