Gov. Nikki Haley’s credibility is on the line. If this meeting on Tuesday is about anything other than her telling the Atlantic Beach council that either they shut down Bikefest or she will, the meeting is a complete waste of time.

Bikefest is a menace to local society. It is clear that neither the Atlantic Beach mayor nor the council have any control whatsoever over this event or the people who attend it.

Myrtle Beach has always been known as a family destination. Between the Bikefest, strip joints, and “X” rated video stores it has become anything but.

It isn’t expected that the leaders of Atlantic Beach will act responsibly. So it is time for the leaders of Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Horry County and the state to step up and do what’s right for the local citizens and law-abiding tourists of Myrtle Beach.

Shut down Bikefest once and for all.
