I wholeheartedly agree with the recent spate of letters decrying the two bike rallies that take up a few weeks every May.
I am particularly sympathetic with the people who come to Myrtle Beach every year, on Memorial Day weekend, and are still surprised that the area is rife with bikers, how jarring that must be. It is also unacceptable, that a town with no crime, no gun violence, and no prostitutes for the other 11 months of the year should be subject to such atrocities every May.
I would like to suggest, when the grand strand legislators are busy this summer banning the bikers, that they go one step further, and ban golfers.
I can't count the number of times that I have been in fear for my life when I am walking my dogs and see a car swerving towards me, inevitably driven by a golfer who, after an afternoon on a local course partaking liberally of the beverage cart, is driving to one of the numerous “gentleman's" clubs for some good relaxation.
If we were to ban golfers and bikers just think of what a peaceful area this would be. Oh wait …Would that be driving tourists from an area that heavily relies on tourists for our economy?
