Whatever you call it,
coverage is subsidized
Mr. Rome wrote that he now has Obamacare. His premium is $140 a month. He has a $0 deductible and $2,250 out of pocket. I’m happy he now has insurance.
He wonders why, if you are 65 years old, you are entitled to your Social Security and Medicare, but, If you are 60 he refers to his benefits as socialism.
At age 62 he will be eligible for his Social Security that he paid into when he was working. At age 65 he can get Medicare and pay for it out of his own pocket.
The benefit he is receiving now in the form of health insurance, I guess, he could call his Socialism. He is paying a small amount for his premium. He did not tell us how much the government is subsidizing his insurance company for the payment for the rest of his premium. My estimate would be a few hundred dollars a month. Again I’m happy that he is insured.
Government is ruining
the America I love
I think I’ll express some of my feelings about the way I feel about our political bunch in Washington. We all know the Democrats don’t mind taking us deeper and deeper in debt. These Democrats, when the Republicans don’t agree with them, call them racists.
Now the leader of the Democratic Party turns out to be the biggest liar of all. I served almost four years in the Navy in World War II, spent 200,000 miles at sea more or less. I was in four major invasions, and received four bronze stars. Don’t get me wrong, I love this country very much, but honestly I can’t say that about our politicians in Washington.
Right now they can’t agree whether to extend the unemployment or not. I say the only way to extend it is to have money laid aside to pay for it. If you don’t have money to back up for things you’re doing, then cut every check coming out of Washington by whatever percentage you need to stay within the budget. I grew up in the 20s and 30s and I know what I’m talking about. None of you politicians need to be elected over twice.
I’d also like to speak about our judicial system. Robbing and murder is becoming an everyday thing here in America. I recommend building a gallows outside every courthouse when they try a pre-meditation case of murder. If the jury says “death,” the judge says “take the guilty person right outside and hang them.”
Whispering Pines Golf Course was built by the men and women of the Air Force. It was not built to be an entertainment center. It was meant to be a golf course.
In order to make Whispering Pines more user-friendly a forward tee should be made. To attract more golfers who fly in, golf bags from UPS and FedEx should be accepted at the course, so that Whispering Pines would be their first and last stop. In the summer, children should play for free.
Since the city announced the changes, they have lost the men’s and ladies leagues. Soon the golf academy and any golf outings will also be gone. All of this has generated considerable income that will no longer be there.
If the city does not want Whispering Pines Golf Course, it should be turned over to a veteran’s organization that serves our area vets.

Why can’t America
keep records safe?
If the NSA is the largest and best spy agency, why can’t they track down these hackers that are stealing checking account, debit card and Social Security numbers from American citizens?
Once they are tracked down, even if they are in a foreign country, the U.S. should request the country to extradite them for trial. If the country refuses, the U.S. should cut off any aid that is being sent to that country.
