Newspaper overplays Tiger’s win,
underplays Women’s British Open
On the cover of Monday's Sport section we were subjected to another picture of a glowing Tiger Woods, winner of a non-major golf event Sunday. Like this is big news.
On Page 3 we can read about LPGA golfer Stacy Lewis pulling off an upset at St. Andrews to win the Women's British Open Sunday. No picture of a beaming Stacy.
She is the second only American woman to win the event. It was her second major career win. She ended a streak of 10 LPGA majors won by Asian women. With great resiliency she defeated Indee Park, winner of three LPGA majors in 2013 and a host of other celebrated Asian women golfers.
Treating Lewis's win as a non-event is a slap in the face to all the women golfers who feed the economy of Myrtle Beach and the many golf courses of local communities. Woods took home $1.5 million for his “superior skill and talent” while Lewis's once-in-a lifetime accomplishment in much less than “ideal conditions” earned her a grand sum of $402,000.

Health care act will harm
our health, not help it
Don’t understand what the big deal is about Obamacare?
Just ask yourself one question: If the new law is so great, why are the representatives (and their staffs) who passed it and the IRS who will enforce it exempt from it?
The attitude of “laws for thee but not for me” should tell you all you need to know. Everything opponents suggested would happen has been verified: It’s vastly more expensive than we were told; it doesn’t cover more people; it puts more restrictions and regulations on care givers; and rather than reducing the costs of healthcare, it vastly increases the costs while vastly reducing the quality and timeliness of care.
In fact, the only people who cannot exempt themselves from it are the hard-working taxpayers who are funding it, and they oppose it in strong majority. Defunding O-care is the best way to take the teeth out of this law and the most effective way to revive the free-market economy, the best tool to provide the best care to the most people.
Obama’s policies, practices
induce reader’s suffering
Dear President Obama:
I have developed a full-blown case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Between Fast and Furious, Benghazi and other bungled US Mideast policies, the IRS scandal, the NSA spying on Americans scandal, Obama's rule by Executive Order rather than in accordance with the Constitution, his hundreds of illegally appointed “Czars,” insane federal deficits and the staggering national debt, high unemployment, Obamacare, federal employees spying on one another and the list of problems and scandals goes on and on, I have become overwhelmed and, therefore, disabled.
I should quality for Social Security disability payments. I would also like the Feds to issue me a SNAP card so I can start dining on porterhouse steak and Maine lobster, booze and junk food. I think I also deserve a free Obama phone.
I am not making light of PTSD. I commanded a USMC rifle platoon in Vietnam for nearly nine months in 1968 and 1969 and have witnessed both real and faked PTSD.
For those who think fraud is not pervasive in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP, get your head out of the sand. For those who think Obama phones are anything other than a Democratic Party voter registration program, wake up.
If two booths were set up side by side and the sign on one said FULL EMPLOYMENT and the sign on the other said FREE MONEY, which line do you suppose would be the longest?
