Bill will make America
safer from terrorists
Never miss a local story.
S.744 really strengthens border security. It allocates funding for 20,000 new security agents and 700 miles of additional fencing.
The world is a dangerous place these days and with so much turbulence in the Middle East, I believe we should employ extra security measures to ensure terrorists are prevented from covertly crossing the border and the Bipartisan Immigration Reform Bill does just that.
I hope Congressman Tom Rice will work with his colleagues in the House to help pass this bill.
best for immigration reform
Our country requires greater security measures along the border. With the arrival of the Senate immigration bill to the House, I hope Congressman Tom Rice will work with the House leadership and lead South Carolina's delegation in crafting additional provisions that make the border security sections of this bill stronger.
Once that is completed we should have a bill that's more balanced and capable of obtaining cross-sectional support in the House, making it easier to pass. With a greater border security presence in the bill it will become more comprehensive and save our country valuable time by essentially killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.
With all the turbulence in the world today I do not believe we have the luxury of putting this bill off and waiting 10 more years to address this matter. Again, I hope Congressman Rice will make the adjustments to border security in the current immigration bill and work to pass it.
Closure of IMAX dampens
visitors trip to the beach
IMAX theater closing, what a bummer. That's one of the reasons we came to Myrtle Beach.
We were so looking forward to seeing an IMAX movie then visiting the other stores but now, we are not going to Broadway at the beach. We will stay on the real beach then go back home for the last time.
Zimmerman had no choice
in Martin shooting
Re: July 20 letter from Dick Withington, “Zimmerman will face ultimate judgment:”
in response to Dick Withington’s statement that Trayvon Martin had no weapon, that is rediculous. We all have weapons; fists, elbows, knees, feet. and sometimes the hard concrete of a sidewalk.
Pinned down, George Zimmerman had no other option, but to shoot, fearing his head might crack open.
