I just finished reading with chagrin an article regarding the inability and struggle of mothers to change their babies’ diapers due to the high cost of disposable diapers -- $18 per week as stated.
Whatever happened to the use of cloth diapers – the majority of the people in the United States today were brought up on cloth diapers, no mother had to continue to “buy” diapers. It was remove, rinse and wash, three non-costly steps and oh by the way, toddlers were out of diapers much sooner than today because of that.
Also, not stated in the article, is the tremendous amount of space these costly disposable diapers are taking up in our land fills. I certainly agree there are times when disposable diapers may be needed but please do not consider them a necessity of life and a cause for the instability, stress of motherhood or a silent epidemic.
Never miss a local story.
