I am surprised that the President has been accused of acting like a king. President Obama has advocated the same policies ever since he ran for the US Senate. He won a seat in the Senate once and has been elected President twice all by a comfortable margin.
After having the majority of the people agreeing with him, Congress refuses to cooperate. When he uses executive orders to get things done, I call that being responsible.
I think Congress has forgotten that in a democracy, the majority rules. They are elected by the people to work but they get paid to do nothing. I would like to know what to call a system like that?
We have the same problem here in Horry County. More than 60 percent of the people voted for dedicated funding for public transportation but County Council decided that they do not need to listen to the will of the people and refused dedicated funding.
I think in Washington, Congress thinks that if they do nothing, the public will hold the President responsible. In Horry County, the Council thinks the public will hold the leader of Coast RTA responsible.
Not everyone is naive enough to believe that. We who know what is happening should inform others.
