Letter | Let Zimmerman verdict stand

Shortly after George Zimmerman was found not guilty, the protests started. The Justice Department is looking into the verdict and thinking about a civil suit, as requested by some.
President Obama actually said something that impressed me for the first time since he was elected the first time. “We are a nation of laws and the jury has spoken.”
There is one major thing that seems to have been forgotten, and that is the statement that Zimmerman, on numerous occasions, called the local authorities to report a suspicious person/person's in the area. If that is the case and apparently the phone records were checked and found to be true, then why on this particular occasion would he shoot the person in question if not in self defense? I would guess that if checked, Trayvon Martin was not the first one of color or other ethnicity.
I agree that a young life was lost, but not all 17-year-olds are the perfect children as seen in their parents eyes and Trayvon was not a perfect child.
Please do not let one case become a racial incident and cause problems between the races, we are all God's children and skin color has nothing to do with what we are inside. We are all the same, we need to embrace that thought and come together as God's children. Our days on this earth are numbered from the time we are brought into this world and how we die is God's choosing, although it is sometimes cruel and does not always seem fair.
Love, not hate, makes the world go around, live by that saying and happiness will overcome the hatred that is running rampant in this world.
