I found it quite interesting to read about beach safety in the June 17 edition: “Planning key to beach safety.”
First of all there are not enough lifeguards and they are woefully without the equipment needed to do their job. In the area where I live you have to strain your eyes to see where a lifeguard station is located. Where are the surf boards for them to paddle out on, or a kayak to get out there or a motorized craft?
I want and expect lifeguards to be looking out for people, not setting up beach chairs for some private enterprise.
