“The Obama administration assaults press freedom.” This was the title of the lead editorial in the paper on May 18. I wonder why we never saw “The Obama administration assaults the Second Amendment” or “The Obama administration assaults the right to keep and bear arms” printed in the paper? How egregiously hypocritical! Oh! I’m sorry, that wouldn’t fit the (obvious) liberal leaning of your editorials. Can’t find anyone capable or willing to compose such an editorial? Next time, ask me.
On the facing page was an article penned by a Mr. Scot Lehigh, a columnist of the Boston Globe heralding that the numerous scandals besetting our current administration were not comparable to that of the Nixon administration during the Watergate incident that led to the resignation of the president.
Too bad he neglected to mention that while the Nixon’s administration actions during the Watergate scandal were a disgusting abuse of power, that Obama and his administration’s actions and lack thereof resulted in the deaths of four Americans on foreign soil! This, my friends, is not excusable!
In my opinion, what happened in Benghazi dwarfs Watergate. Obama preferred to go to bed, sleep, then fly to Las Vegas for a political fundraiser instead of caring about those four, scared Americans, waiting for rescue, desperately hoping that elected leaders, safe in bed, would not abandon them, not allow them to suffer a horrible death inside that beleaguered consulate in a desert land so far from home. So far from their families and the comfort of their own beds.
What did the deaths of those men get in return? They got Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations appearing on five Sunday morning news programs blatantly lying to every man, woman and child in the United States of America. While she may or may not have known that what she was instructed to say was a lie, it has proven to be so nonetheless.
What really angers me is the fact that someone under the direct control and responsibility of Obama was the one that gave those orders, if not Obama himself. Oh, not Obama? Yeah, he went to bed while those brave souls were being massacred in a foreign land so he could get a good night’s sleep and be fresh for his political campaign’s fundraising event in Las Vegas he next day. How utterly caring of him, to put the success of his election above that of those dying in the desert! How selfish and intensely gutless of a commander and chief.
What disgusts me even more is that on Jan. 23 the secretary of state of this great country, testifying before the Senate, showing indignation and anger, very carefully asked “what difference, at this point, does it make?” On Jan. 23 she was right, but on Sept. 11, 2012, it would have made a huge difference in the result of the November presidential elections. That, Madam Clinton, is what difference it made, like you didn’t already know.
Then to add insult to injury, there were brave citizens that came forth to blow the whistle that were intimidated, threatened and told to (basically) shut up. Ain’t this country great? And to believe that the man who pledged that this would be the “most transparent administration, ever” has failed to make it so. Oh yeah, for the great uninformed masses, the man that said that is Barack Hussein Obama.
I could expand in great detail about the other disgusting stuff coming from this White House about the attacks on the Second and First Amendments, The egregious abuse of power by the IRS, and the lack of prosecutions by the Justice Department of voting place intimidation (Pennsylvania, 2008). Combined, they make the Nixon administration’s actions seem (nearly) insignificant in comparison.
So, Mr. Lehigh, in one respect you were correct, this particular scandal currently besieging the Obama administration does not compare with those of the Nixon administration. It is far worse.
