Horry County gets a lot of revenue from out of state tourism, I think we all can agree on that.
But the concern over the right to carry concealed weapons in restaurants and bars is a disturbing one. Maybe the restaurant and bar owners could supply bulletproof vests to patrons and temporary gun permits. Most sane folks will head across the state line to North Carolina and avoid the excessive meal taxes with gusto.
South Carolina has a lot of beauty and plenty to offer, but this approach adds a whole new dimension to the ambience. This gun law if passed will certainly impact tourism. What parent wants to expose their family to a reckless environment, especially with all the recent gun deaths? Guns don’t pull triggers, people do.
Most folks I have talked with will definitely head to North Carolina for drinks and meals, avoiding the potential “OK Corral” scenario. Bummer, we can’t even have a good old fashioned bar room brawl anymore! John Wayne threw more punches in bars, that’s why they called him “The Duke.”
Live up to your hero, guys!
