Re May 16 column by Nina Easton, “Adopt new attitude toward adoption”
I was deeply touched by the article regarding adoption as an option for unexpected pregnancies. Although my situation occurred many years ago, I still thank God every day for my children and the opportunity of becoming an adoptive parent and for the women (very often young girls) who made the ultimate sacrifice of giving them a chance at a better life.
I let my children know early on that their birth mothers were wonderful human beings who deserved the utmost respect. In later years, we had the good fortune to meet my son’s biological mother and she confirmed our beliefs.
Abortion is a touchy issue in our house and would never be an option. Who in their right mind can justify ending the life of a beautiful baby, when there are so many couples longing to share their love? There can never be a stigma attached to a baby.
