On May 6, our home in Dunes Cove caught on fire. Our words are quite inadequate to express our appreciation and gratitude to the firefighters of Myrtle Beach. In comparison to the Barefoot fires and Windsor Green fires, our loss seems insignificant. Yet the care for our personal belongings, the determination to put the fire out and the extreme compassion that these men showed our family will never be forgotten.
No lives were lost, yet it was a deep emotional tragedy to watch huge flames billow from the rooftop of the place we’ve called home for 18 years. These men risked their lives for us. We commend them and thank them, sincerely and respectfully, for a job well done.
