I have been coming to Myrtle Beach every year for 29 years. Your sales tax is gouging the vacationer.
This year we have spent over $10,000 while on vacation. Your takeout tax is basically raping the vacationer. At about 12 percent you are the highest that I know of. I do not think I will be coming back here because of your tax rate. My wife and I have decided to try Florida.
I went into a McDonald’s in Myrtle Beach and was charged $3.43 for an Egg McMuffin. This is about $1.50 more than what I pay for it where I live. When I inquired they said the price will drop after Labor Day; it only is this high during vacation season.
If I order food from my room from the hotel I am staying in I get charged the almost 12 percent takeout tax. I stopped ordering in my room. If you keep doing this to the vacationers you will lose in the long term.
