I feel like more people need to know how important our local plant life and wildlife is. When we tear down forest and other wooded areas to build houses or stores, we are destroying animals’ homes. The community should also be aware that when we throw our trash on the side of the road, animals are picking some of that stuff up and eating it or getting stuck in whatever has been littered on the roadway.
Animals can get sick and die from our litter. This eventually leads to animals being endangered or becoming extinct. More people need to be aware of the consequences that come from not preserving our wildlife and plant life.
A couple of ways to make people more aware of the issue is to have commercials on the issue or have ads in the newspaper encouraging them to volunteer at places like the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge center.
