Re April 30 letter by Walter Kollett, “Honor Flight MB mission remains clear”
I was privileged to participate in the last Honor Flight (Oct. 24). It was fantastic! Well planned, professionally executed and very heart-warming with all the appreciation shown by the American public for a bunch of old guys who served their country 68-70 years ago.
We went places and saw things we could not have as individuals. The concern shown by the volunteers and the guardians was awesome. Our group ranged in age from 83 to 97. Some needed wheelchairs, which were provided along with a guardian to push them. At the end of the day, we were a happy, tired bunch.
If you are a WWll vet or know someone who is, contact www.honorflightmyrtlebeach.com. You will be glad you did. Greatest thing I experienced in the last 50 years. Plus I had an extra, my daughter was my guardian (kind of a role reversal). Remember the date: Aug. 28, 2013.
