On March 28, I took my grandson to NASCAR Speed Park at 1820 21st Ave., Myrtle Beach. We spent about three hours on site. I now understand why the homeowners in that area are complaining of noise. It was very annoying to only hear helicopters continuously fly over.
I spend a lot of time at my time share in Myrtle Beach at the end of Myrtle Beach Airport runway. There is a helicopter business there, but they are not as annoying as those flying out of Broadway at the Beach. The true fact is that the residents were there long before any helicopters, as opposed to Myrtle Beach Speedway on U.S. 501. The raceway was there long before those developments.
I believe that the people who make the decisions to allow helicopters to stay should spend some prime time there when the wind is right. This writer does not live in Myrtle Beach or have any interest in the area. I just feel for the people who spent hard earned money to live in a quiet, peaceful area and then be invaded by an army of choppers.
