Re April 20 letter by Pede Wade, “If you didn’t sacrifice, your thanks means little”
All I can say is, what? I hope I misunderstood your letter.
I was born in 1947 and proudly served my country in the Vietnam War, which apparently Mr. Wade missed happening.
I am reminded of the day long ago when a WWII vet told two of us we didn't belong in his service club because we weren't in a real war. I almost went to jail that day.
I am proud of my service and welcome all the people who say thanks for your service and appreciate what all the veterans of the country, in all wars and conflicts, have done for the U.S. What they have done allows us to have the rights and privileges we take for granted.
And apparently Mr. Wade has forgotten we all served for the same reasons. If he doesn't appreciate hearing thanks for his service, shame on him. I love it when someone comes up and says thank you for your service. Get over your bitter attitude, Mr. Wade.
