I wonder if the lady who urged us to vote for Mark Sanford considers character along with what he “says” he’ll do for schools? Politicians have historically been elected on what they will do for schools, but they have done little more than “say” what they would do. South Carolina doesn’t rank very high on anything that’s academically judged.
Maybe many don’t, but I do remember when Mark Sanford joined the National Guard “to set a good example for his four sons.” On that score, he never did anything but transfer out when his current unit was shipped overseas. I’m just wondering what kind of example he set for his sons when he lied to everyone on his whereabouts on the Appalachian Trail. Face facts, folks – Mark Sanford is just another two-faced politician who thinks he’s owed, and wants to save us money so there’ll be plenty to pay his salary (very generous), perks and eventual retirement. He might stand for a lot but honesty hasn’t been one of his character traits.
We shouldn’t have to forgive and forget. They should be honorable to start their “service” lives.
