Thank you, Rolling Thunder - Grand Strand Chapter for sponsoring an amazing tribute to military women at the senior center in Myrtle Beach on April 6. I had the opportunity to escort a WWII veteran, Orpha MacKinnon of Murrells Inlet. Each woman registered, was pinned and escorted to their designated seat by a Rolling Thunder member. It was very touching.
The 150-plus military women had a chance to tell about their experience. Many met their spouses and went on for further education with the GI Bill. Many had to resign the military to have their babies and then re-enlist. This was an excellent program and kudos to all the sponsors, organizers, i.e., Grand Strand Quilters with their “Quilts of Valor.” It was an amazing event.
Thank You, women's tribute committee of RTSC3.
