I've lived in the Carolinas for over 30 years and I've seen a lot of changes in the sports industry here, but I'm at a loss to explain why I still hear the complaint there is “nothing to do” for the local population. We have a professional basketball team -- The South Carolina Warriors -- who just hosted the Elite 8 of the ABA at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center.
We also have the semi-professional soccer team Myrtle Beach Mutiny beginning its second season at Doug Shaw Stadium and the semi-professional football team Palmetto Havoc starting its fourth season. These teams provide a high level of competition and present a great opportunity to enjoy sports with a friend or take your kids to a ball game. Though I love the Pelicans, there’s more here than just baseball.
