Re March 29 column by Issac Bailey, “It’s time for gay marriage”
I have been following Issac Bailey for a long time now. I understand that he thinks of the civil rights of Americans as concerning anyone in America. This time, I think he has gone too far. Allowing same-sex unions to be called a marriage goes way beyond anything I can understand.
First let me say that I am a Bible-believing Christian. The Bible clearly says God created man to subdue the earth and have dominion over it. The Bible also says that God created woman to be man's help mate, and to bear him children. The Bible also says that when the two come together, they become one. The Bible also speaks clearly of how God views homosexual behavior. That being said, let us look a little deeper.
Anyone having lived on this earth as long as I have knows that men and women think much differently. Men, for the most part, seem to think very logically. Women on the other hand, seem to think from the emotional level first. For me, that is the thing that makes a marriage between a man and a woman so important, especially when raising children. A man will make a judgment based on logic, and his wife will bring the emotional thought to his mind, and a more balanced decision can be brought forth. One can reverse this process, and the same balanced decision can be made. I do not think the same can be said about same-sex couples.
If we look at most people in this world, it seems to me that men are much stronger physically than women. How rare is it to find a woman competing with men in any physical sport? Look at football, baseball, basketball, hockey, or track and field; women do not even come close to competing. How can any logical thinker believe they are the same?
I do not have a problem saying that a same-sex couple should have certain rights or benefits denied by most states. Marriage is a very sacred union between a man and a woman, and to call same-sex unions marriage is a tragedy. I do not think I am alone in my thinking!
