Senator Cleary’s proposal to reduce real estate taxes on “rental” properties tends to leave me a bit cold. Since his home base is right around here I’m sure he has strong support from those few who will benefit greatly at the expense of his other constituents. Perhaps if he drove around the beachfronts at Litchfield and Pawleys Island he would see the efforts his landlord friends put forth to restrict beach access as much as they possibly can, thus keeping the riff-raff out. I’ve lived at Litchfield full time since 1984 and I’ve witnessed the extremes that beach-front home-owners go to, to limit access.
It is no surprise that the GOP is losing support, even from die-hards like me.
