I am so sick of selfish, unfeeling politicians in Washington and Columbia. I am a senior over 75 and blessed to have Medicare, a supplemental Medigap insurance policy, Social Security and a pension so the Medicaid program does not affect me, but I have compassion for those who are not as fortunate. Our politicians need to wear the shoes of their constituents to see, by not expanding the Medicaid program, how it will hurt.
I am sure they all know people in their families, cities and counties who would benefit by expanding this program. And what about our veterans who have been there for us over the years? Take a poll of your districts and ask two questions: 1. Are you for the expansion? 2. Do you need it?
Our politicians need to remember that our tax dollars pay for their salaries and benefits. Our politicians in South Carolina need to think about how they would feel if they were in this situation.
I need to understand how spending millions is better then spending nothing for three years. Take the millions you want to spend, put it in a interest bearing account. When the three years are up it will be there for you to use. Stop thinking in terms of politics and whose idea it was and start thinking with your heart and about helping your constituents that need your help.
