I can’t let this go! The opinion page on March 3 contained some doozies:
Bill O’Reilly tried to have us believe that banks are holding on to their billions because Barack Obama is a social justice president. Who believes that; there must be a hundred reasons for the bank’s failure to make loans.
In her column, Mande Wilkes stated that there is no need for teachers – even good teachers – and holds that home-schooling is the way to go. She suggests that parents, or a parent, be paid to teach their children. I wonder how many parents know enough to teach an elementary school program; not to mention high school. Not 1 in 10 would be my guess.
Also I would ask Ms. Wilkes: What happens to a society where people have not had role models who have taught them everything and inspired them for the future?
Never miss a local story.
Ms. Wilkes implied that there is something wrong with having order and discipline in school rooms: why so? I don’t believe in attacks on our public schools; they should be supported in every way possible. There are not many people who can afford private schooling for their children.
