Re Bob Bestler’s March 2 column “Food for the journey”
At the same time Mr. Bestler was dining out in Atsugi, Japan, I was stationed just south of him at Itazuke, and enjoyed dining out in Fukuoka at a place called Rosie’s, where you could get the best tasting tacos anywhere. Until one day I learned Rosie’s was using stray cats as the meat source for the taco’. Now, I don’t have anything against Mr. Bestler, but I do question his judgment, as I do mine, on identifying a food source in Japan in the late 50s. What he was eating was most certainly not beef. So, for a meal to be buried with, I would suggest he choose vegetarian.
