To me, being a member of the Sav-R-Cats family is the most humble and rewarding experience I have had while living at the beach. As a lover of animals, especially cats, I see firsthand the good work this organization does for the community and people who are having problems with caring and maintaining a healthy environment for their cats.
Sav-R-Cats provides a host of services for the community that go unnoticed and unrewarding; from trap-neuter-release, relocating abandoned, lost or stray cats, to sheltering them, paying for their upkeep, maintaining clean, safe, healthy cat colonies, rabies vaccinations, and many other sundry and incidental costs.
The problem with cats begins when they are abandoned by their owners without being neutered. Then begins the burgeoning uncontrolled population growth and other nuisance annoyances; the blame should not be placed on the cats but the people who irresponsibly caused the situation and on the public officials who are allowing dumping without any fines or penalties.
Finally, allow me to put a pitch in for the Sav-R-Cats adoption center that cares and prepares cats for adoption. They need volunteers to help them at the center; there is a need for food, blankets, and financial donations for a host of costs. As an all-volunteer organization, to keep up with the daily costs is overwhelming. Please give what you can. Many thanks.
