It was appalling to read in the newspaper that some residents of the Wild Horse community are attempting to block construction of a proposed Mercy Care Hospice Home. Their property adjoins property on the Waccamaw River off S.C. 9 where the new construction may take place. I am a patient of Mercy Care and have been for 10 months. I live a few miles away from the proposed construction site on that same river.
The wonderful care shown to me by the staff of Mercy Care, and the fact that my bed faces the Waccamaw River, has made my end of life journey easy. My wife lies in bed with me as we watch the ever-changing show of God’s creation. Mercy Care is trying to give their patients this same experience. I hope these people will search their hearts and ask themselves, “What Would Jesus Do?”
