Re Feb. 10 column by Celia Rivenbark, “Gun lobbyists need better frontman”
Thank you, Celia, for giving voice to those of us whose stomachs turn in revulsion each time the NRA talking heads spew their hateful, hurtful venom. To those of us who, having taken the time to actually read the Second Amendment, recognize it says absolutely nothing about the right to own assault weapons and over-sized magazines. To those of us who realize that, in times past, it has already been determined the Second Amendment is not an absolute, but one where reasonable restrictions need to be established by leaders more concerned with creating a better America than with lobbyist payoffs. To those of us who honor our right as Americans to own firearms, but whose lives are not consumed by building bunkers and arming ourselves against an invasion of “jack-booted government thugs.” To those of us who pray each night that one day our nation will place more value on protecting the lives of innocents than on worshiping the profits of corporations.
