Ode to runners was a great lesson

Re Feb. 12 letter by Mavis Anderson, “A tribute to good, noble runners”

Thank you, Ms. Anderson, for a beautifully worded piece of prose, expressing the truth about Lance Armstrong. Your “running men” are the unsung heroes of our world; The only affirmation they need is from their inner soul. And the example they have set for their children is the best lesson in sportsmanship and honesty they will ever need to get them some place in life.

Your letter also pointed out to us something many of us have known for years; the Harley guys and gals are not evil, tough, rough characters. They bond together for the joy of the journey, not the end of the trip. I am not a Harley person, but I know quite a few and though their rides are public, they do a great amount of charity work that goes unrecognized. Ride on, Harley folks.

The writer lives in Pawleys Island.
