Here is a letter I recently wrote to Senators Graham and Scott, and to Congressman Rice:
Subject: Impact on U.S. Military by Sequestration and Absence of F13 Defense Appropriation Act
1. I voted for you.
2. I am now totally frustrated with the complete absence of leadership and bi-partisanship on the part of all members of Congress in the face of Sequestration (Budget Control Act) which will hit the Defense Department on March 1, as well as the failure of both Houses to present a Defense Appropriations Budget for FY 13. Essentially, you and all your colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the Senate and House, have “thrown our precious military...its people, its readiness, its capabilities, its force structure...under the bus.”
3. This situation is egregious and you all know it. But really you all don't care because the men and women of the Armed Forces, uniformed and civilian, can't really lobby or put any money to speak of into anyone's political campaign chest.
4. Who wants to be in the Armed Forces when they are treated like this? How do allies and enemies view this?
5. This Congress will be directly responsible for the disruption of, and for beginning the progressive weakening of America's military, now and for many years to come.
