Assault weapons ban just common sense

It is time to step up to the plate and have your say if you are for the assault weapon ban proposal that Sen. Dianne Feinstein is putting forward. Let’s get the facts straight; she is not proposing to take away your guns. That is a fact; those that think that obviously have a knee jerk reaction.

I have relatives that hunt, and they do not do it with assault weapons, so it is time to write your representative in Washington to ask for their support, as they should be working for us the people not the NRA, which is under the impression that everyone has their price.

If you are one of the people that want an assault weapon, why do you want it? It is only for killing people. Do you really want to have it on your conscience if it is stolen? Responsible gun owners are supposed to keep them locked up so let’s try this scenario: one or more people break into your home while you and your family are there, are you going to say wait just a minute I have to unlock my assault weapon? That would make them happy, now they have extra armaments, they either kill you or tie you all up and take your beloved assault weapon. Now what?

Find your representative at www.house.gov/representatives. Those of us that have common sense have to speak up.

The writer lives in Myrtle Beach.
