2nd Amendment needed to ensure freedom

I have read a number of letters from citizens who, I am confident, are writing from the heart. All propose various controls on firearms, ammunition, and magazine capacities. I certainly empathize with all who decry the recent mass homicides. And it is insufficient for me to quip, “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” although it is an accurate assertion.
