Aynor Bypass a waste of our money

Please tell me that taxpayers did not spend $17 million to provide a bridge for an Aynor population of less than 1,000, just to cross the street and not have to wait for a traffic light? Meanwhile, we here in the area from Conway through Carolina Forest on U.S. 501 (over 40,000 population) have to wait at many traffic lights for as much as 4 to 5 minutes and then wait in bumper to bumper traffic to travel from our homes to the grocery.
