Since my husband had an uncle who died fighting in World War II, he, along with his aunt, cousin and I were encouraged to visit the exhibit at Conway High School honoring veterans who died during war and were alumni of Conway and Whittemore high schools.
Words cannot express how impressed we were with this exhibit and how grateful we all should be to Tracey Hall and her students, who obviously devoted many hours to this project.
A large plaque with each veteran's name, parents' name, picture, medals awarded and circumstance of death was displayed. Tracey knew each one's history, and her students were so devoted to details that several war-time clerical errors had been discovered and corrected.
Tracey commented on what a profound learning experience this had been for the students. I feel sure nothing learned in a history class could compare. Wouldn't it be great if every high school in our area followed their lead?
