Congratulations to Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster for becoming our next governor. Hopefully, he will be more understanding than our current governor about the problems South Carolina faces in the derelict condition of our infrastructure.
Maybe he will be more intelligent and realize that it requires funds to repair and improve our infrastructure, and that good infrastructure brings business to the state.
Maybe Mr. McMaster did not sign the Grover Norquist pledge to never to raise taxes, come hell or high water. And maybe he will realize that raising the gasoline tax, one of the lowest in the nation, will raise a lot of the funds from the tourists who visit this state.
Please support the soon-to-be new governor, and let’s hope for common sense.
