Coastal Carolina University has been ranked second in the U.S. News and World Report’s list of “best value” southern regional universities, released Tuesday.
The top-ranked school? Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans.
Coastal beat out other South Carolina colleges on the list such as The Citadel, ranked 20th, Winthrop University, ranked 52nd, and the College of Charleston, ranked 61st.
The school tied for the 8th position last year, according to a school press release.

According the U.S. News, the rankings take into account academic quality, as well as the “net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.”
