The St. James High Chorale has been selected to perform at the S.C. School Boards Association’s annual convention, which will be held in Myrtle Beach Feb. 21-24.
The chorale, a vocal jazz group, was one of two from the county to compete for a spot at the event and had to submit an audition on DVD, said Sandra Pascal, the school’s choral director. She said the group is very excited about the opportunity to perform.
Pascal said the chorale will sing Feb. 22 for the association’s first general session. She said the group is kept small at about seven members because they perform for a number of activities around the county.
Forestbrook school pantry helps feed families
Forestbrook Middle School students help the school’s families who are in need by distributing bimonthly food boxes filled with items from the school’s food pantry. The students have been collecting nonperishable items for the pantry since the beginning of the year, and they also stock the pantry as well as pack the boxes.
For Thanksgiving, the students were able to provide the families with an additional box of food containing a Thanksgiving meal, and donations from local grocery stores allowed them also to provide a turkey for each family. The school plans to do the same thing at Christmas.
