A Conway man is facing multiple charges after police say he held a gun to a man who came to pick up a car he was asked to detail at his unlicensed business.
Conway police were dispatched to 1833 Westridge Blvd. in reference to a man being held hostage at gunpoint at 6 p.m. Monday.
Two men from Myrtle Beach told police they came to pick up a couple of cars they had asked 54-year-old Ricky Allen Cooper to detail, but when they knocked on Cooper’s door, he came out threatening them with a gun.
Cooper told one of the men to leave and directed the other to the carport at gunpoint, according to a Conway police report. The man, who left, called 911.
The other man told officers that Cooper made him get into one of the vehicles just before police arrived.
An officer found an air pistol “that looked like a handgun” in one of the Cooper’s pockets, according to the report.
Cooper was charged with kidnapping, operating a business without a license and two counts of pointing a firearm at a person
He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Monday where he remained Wednesday under a total bond amount of $35,890.
