A 17-year-old student at Socastee High School was cited Monday after telling officials he punched a kid who had been laughing at him, according to an Horry County police report.
Daniel Ivan Alvarado of Myrtle Beach was sitting in an assistant principal’s office when police arrived.
School administrators told police that Alvarado went into a classroom around 3 p.m. and punched and choked another 17-year-old student.
Alvarado told police that the student and several of his friends had begun picking at him and laughing at him during lunch. When he confronted them, he said they just kept laughing and pointing at him, according to the report.
The student was assessed by the school nurse and did not require any further medical attention, the report stated. The student did not press charges, but Alvarado was still cited for disturbing school.
