After getting a knock on the door, six masked gunmen charged into a Loris home, but fled after a man was shot, according to what one of the victims told Horry County police.
Officers were called about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday to a home on Buena Vista Drive in the Loris area, police say.
“The call for service came out as if it was an accidental shooting,” the police incident report notes.
Krystal Dotson, Horry County police spokeswoman, said she could not confirm whether the shooting was accidental, and said the incident is being investigated as a first-degree burglary.
When police arrived at the home, the male victim was on the living room floor with a gunshot wound, authorities said. Dotson said the victim lived at the house.
The people at the house told police they heard a knock at the door, then when a woman inside answered it, six armed men in ski masks came into the house, the report states.
The victims said the men demanded they all get on the ground, then they all heard the gunshot ring out. After the shot was fired, all the suspects left, authorities said.
No one involved was able to say whether they heard or saw a vehicle in the driveway, or give further details on the suspect, police said.
EMS responded to the home, and one man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Dotson said.
She stated there was no further suspect information for police to release late Wednesday morning.
