A woman told authorities that a man attempted to snatch her purse in the Myrtle Beach Wal-Mart parking lot, according to a police report.
Police were called about 11 p.m. Thursday to Wal-Mart at 541 Seaboard Street, where a 27-year-old Wal-Mart employee reported the incident, officers said.
The victim she was walking across the parking lot toward her car when she felt someone pulling on her purse. She told police she held on to her purse as the alleged thief pushed and pulled her in an attempt to take it from her.
The victim told police her purse ripped during the struggle, and the alleged thief then ran south toward the east side of the building, officers said.
A witness who was at the scene corroborated the victim’s statement.
Officers said the victim did suffer minor injuries during the struggle, including scratches and bruising.
Police are still investigating and had not made any arrests in connection with the incident as of Friday morning.
