A man was charged with criminal domestic violence after a woman said she was strangled and sexually assaulted, according to a police report.
Patrick Ehlers, 44, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature after police were called about 1 p.m. Tuesday to a motel on the 1300 block of Yaupon Drive, where a 41-year-old woman reported the incident, authorities said.
The victim told police through a raspy voice that she had been strangled by Ehlers and that he slammed her head against the headboard of a bed.
The victim told emergency medical service workers that she had been sexually assaulted by Ehlers, but when detectives followed up about the alleged sexual assault the victim said she did want police involved because she was afraid of Ehlers, according to the report.
Police could not obtain pictures of the victim’s injuries or any further information because the victim said she was too afraid of Ehlers to cooperate further.
Based on the victim’s statements and injuries, officers arrested Ehlers and took him to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
