An elderly woman had her purse snatched Thursday evening outside of a pet store near Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach, Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said Friday.
Officers were called at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the parking lot of Petsmart at 1391 South Commons Drive for the incident, police said.
The 65-year-old woman said a man “grabbed her and tore her purse from her hands” before he got into a vehicle and drove away, Denis said. The suspect was picked up by a family member and surrendered to police Thursday night.
Witnesses helped the woman from the ground and officers learned she had two cats in her hand as she walked to her vehicle, according to the report. Before her purse strap broke, the victim was pulled across the ground when the man grabbed her.
